March 14, 2008
Rexburg, Idaho - Former Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Larry LaRocco will be working his 19th “Working for Senate” job Tuesday, March 18th at the Beehive Federal Credit Union in Rexburg located at 1087 Erikson Dr. LaRocco will assist Manager Shane Berger from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and learn first-hand how the current credit crisis is affecting families in eastern Idaho.
"Working families desperately need someone in the U.S. Senate who understands their economic needs, from the rising costs of health care, insurance, and employment opportunities, to dealing with confidence in our financial system," LaRocco said. "Working with the staff of Beehive Federal Credit Union will give me a perspective from the other side of the counter as families struggle to cope with the financial challenges of raising families and planning for the future. The financial services industry has been a major part of my life since 1973 and I'm excited about my upcoming experience at Beehive."
Beginning as an Assistant Vice President and Director of Marketing at a Twin Falls bank, LaRocco moved on to become Vice President of First Idaho Corporation and a financial services consultant at brokerage firms. Once in the U.S. House, he took a seat on the Banking Committee, where his work there and after Congress was instrumental in modernizing the financial services industry in America.
Beehive was founded on, and has spurred growth through its cooperative nature and an adherence to building and maintaining long-term financial strength and stability. Beehive was originally organized as Ricks College Federal Credit Union in 1960. The original membership fee was $0.25, plus a $5 share deposit. The loan policies evolved throughout the years allowing a variety of different types of loans for various purposes to be made to members. Beehive now has 3 branches in Rexburg and Idaho Falls with ATMs at BYU-Idaho.
LaRocco has pledged to continue his "Working for Senate" campaign until his election in November while he serves in the U.S. Senate.
