LaRocco will make cheese in Twin Falls, work with courts in Lewiston

July 9, 2007

He has hauled garbage in Orofino and worked alongside a certified nursing assistant in Pocatello. Next up for U.S. Senate candidate Larry LaRocco: a shift in a Twin Falls cheese plant and a day with the staff of Nez Perce County Court Services.

LaRocco, a Democrat, is using his “Working for Senate” campaign to work a variety of jobs around Idaho. “It’s important to hear firsthand the pressures Idahoans are under as they raise their families, save for retirement, educate their kids and pay taxes,” he said. “Most candidates do all the talking. I believe it’s important to listen and learn.”

On Tuesday, July 10, LaRocco will be working as a cheese maker at the Glanbia Foods plant in Twin Falls. One of three Glanbia plants in the Magic Valley, the Twin Falls operation employs about 80 people and processes more than 2.5 million pounds of milk a day. “I look forward to learning more about the dairy industry, since Idaho is now one of our nation’s top cheese-producing states,” LaRocco said.

On Monday, July 16, LaRocco will spend the day working with the staff of the Nez Perce County Court Services, which supervises about 600 adult offenders and 150 juvenile offenders at any one time. His duties may include fieldwork with probation officers and assisting staff at the Region II Juvenile Detention Center. LaRocco was invited to work by John Triplett, court services director, after Triplett read about the candidate’s June 11 “Working for Senate” kickoff as a sanitation worker in Orofino.

While in Lewiston, LaRocco will also attend the Nez Perce County Democratic Picnic, set for 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. July 15 at Hereth Park, 1534 Powers Ave., in Lewiston.
